Armor Health Hires Chief Pharmacy Officer with More Than Three Decades of Experience
Miami, FL – Armor Health (www.ArmorHealthcare.com), the leading provider of correctional healthcare services providing quality care to state and local correctional facilities nationwide, has introduced Dr. Roberto V. Pichardo, PharmD as the company’s new Chief Pharmacy Officer. Dr. Pichardo has over 30 years of pharmacy experience, with a primary focus in the managed care sector, and has served in a variety of positions such as Clinical Pharmacist, Manager, and Director.
“Dr. Pichardo’s hiring further bolsters Armor Health’s best-in-class clinical team by adding another layer of evidence-based patient care,” says Armor’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jimmy Fernandez. He adds, “Dr. Pichardo will seamlessly integrate into our clinical team’s patient evaluation process adding an enhanced evaluation of the use of pharmaceuticals to our Correctional healthcare clients, and an additional layer of safety for our patients.

Dr. Pichardo’s former position was Director of Pharmacy for a startup Medicare Advantage plan, where he was responsible for all facets of the pharmacy benefit, vendor oversight, Compliance, and Utilization Management. “Dr. Pichardo’s extensive knowledge of the managed care sector will help Armor Health meet our mission to help provide our patients the same quality of care available to the general public” says Dr. Fernandez.
Dr. Pichardo’s has experience in a variety of healthcare environments including hospitals, LTC/SNF, physician management companies, home infusion/specialty pharmacy, and pharmacy benefit managers. He also worked for Aetna where he served as a Clinical Account Executive (CAE) responsible for National, Middle Market and Public & Labor accounts in the Southeast Region of the United States (AL, FL, GA, LA, MS). In the CAE role, he served as a key representative of the Aetna Pharmacy Management (APM) team in leading clinical efforts related to pharmacy benefit designs, planning and promotion of pharmacy programs, strategies to enhance the quality of care and optimize pharmacy spend.
Dr. Pichardo graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy, and completed a Geriatric Pharmacy Practice Residency. He is a licensed Registered Pharmacist, Consultant Pharmacist and has served as Clinical Affiliate Assistant Professor at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), College of Pharmacy.
