Dr. Sendy Ferguson Named Regional Behavioral Health Director for Virginia

With Dr. Vauter’s new permanent position, Dr. Sendy Ferguson has been named the new Regional Behavioral Health Director for Virginia. Dr. Ferguson completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Neuropsychology at Argosy University in Tampa, Florida. She is licensed as a clinical psychologist in Virginia as well as her home state of Florida. Dr. Ferguson is also a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider in Virginia. 

 

She most recently served as the Forensic Coordinator at Central State Hospital in Virginia, which houses the state’s maximum security forensic unit. In that role, she was responsible for overseeing and coordinating court-ordered emergency forensic admissions, providing clinical and risk management consultation to treatment teams, and addressing challenges related to forensic patient flow. Dr. Ferguson has also served as the Forensic Evaluation Team Supervisor at Central State Hospital and worked for four years at the Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation where she conducted court-ordered evaluations. Dr. Ferguson has also consulted for the Office of the Attorney General on risk and commitment issues and provided expert testimony at annual review hearings.
